Name: rl43681 Date: 04/18/2003
FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.4.2-beta"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-beta-b19)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-beta-b19, mixed mode)
FULL OS VERSION :
Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]
EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
Installation of System is located on Drive E:The standard program path is E:\Programme
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The installer for Windows allows in the "Custom Setup" step to
change the location for the "Public Java Runtime Enviroment"
At the feature description it states, that the JRE will be installed
at C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.4.2, the "Install to:" line states, that
the JRE will be installed at the same place as the Development Tools
(at my machine I:\j2sdk1.4.2).
But in fact it is neither the first place, nor the second place.
Instead it is installed at the standard installation path for Programms
E:\Programme\Java\j2re1.4.2
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Install the JDK at a german operating system installed not at
"C:\"
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
A correct description of the standard installation path with the
chance to change the installation path for the JRE - esp. for
systems running out of space at the system drive.
The JRE is installed at E:\Programme\Java\j2re1.4.2
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
