Folder icon shown by JTree in WinXP LAF is not similar to WinXP. But the folder icons shown in JFileChooser is same as that is in WinXP.
Look and feels must be as close as possible compared to the target platform.
Attached here with is sample code and screen-shot.
Run sample code JTreeIconTest in WinXP, it pops up a window with a JTree and JFileChooser - save dialog box. Compare the folder icons. If icons are different and not similar to WinXP, bug is reproduced.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Workaround mentioned is not complete. It does not specify how to get the open icon. The workaround gets only the closed icon. Which is rather unusable, since a combination of different closed and open icon is not preferable for any customer.
