Problem occuring on Hewlett Packard Pavilion t134a - using fresh image created from recovery partition, no other software installed
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When installing JRE 1.4.1_01 or 1.4.1_02 on a HP Pavilion t134a running Windows XP Service Pack 1 with no software installed other than that loaded when the PC is reimaged from the recovery partition, the installation of JRE freezes when the "Creating Java JAR files" pop-up message appears. Installation has to be stopped through the Task Manager. Unable to deinstall to reinstall JRE.
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Run j2re-1_4_1_02-windows-i586-i.exe or j2re-1_4_1_01-windows-i586-i.exe on PC described above. Happens every time for me.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Install to complete without freezing.
ACTUAL -
Freeze as described above.
ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
No error message.
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
