FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.4.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode)
FULL OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION :
red hat linux 8.0
A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
Can you enhance the linux jdk/jre setup so that by double
clicking on a .jar i can run a java application (just like
under windows)? This should work under gnome and kde.
JUSTIFICATION :
Associating a file type with an application is under the control of the operating system, but this RFE will help facilitate the use of Java for beginners. The Windows setup already associates jar files to the JVM, so why not do the same under Linux?
