Chinese (both SC & TC) chars shown as missing chars in Textfield, RedHat 8.0

XMLWordPrintable

      OS: RedHat 8.0
      Locale: S.Chinese, T.Chinese, Japanese
      build: Tiger(b10)

Synopsis: Chinese (both SC & TC) chars shown as missing chars in Textfield
Japanese chars shown as ASCII chars in combinations of $, or % signs
Note : same results showed with Mantis (b28)

      To reproduce:
      1. run CharView
      2. set range to 4e00 for SC and TC, set range to 3040 for Japanese
      3. notice all methods except TextField display chars correctly

For SC: when click "x" to exit CharView application, it sometimes threw exceptions, hs_err_pid10711.log is attached
For TC: exception is thrown, hs_err_pid10899.log is attached
For Japanese: the following message are thrown
Warning: Cannot convert string "-misc-kochigothic-medium-r-normal--*-140-*-*-c-*-jisx0201.1976-0" to type
      FontStruct
Warning: Cannot convert string "-misc-kochigothic-medium-r-normal--*-140-*-*-c-*-jisx0208.1983-0" to type FontStruct

      One more observation:
. In SC GB18030 encoding, Charaters of the range of 3040, with TextField, displayed OK as expected.
