A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Both on-line and shipped versions of java release notes include a link to a password-protected site for detailed descriptions of NIO (jsr 051).
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
As shipped in the doc package (for jdk 1.4.2), guide/nio/index.html says "for further information:... http://java.sun.com/aboutJava/communityprocess/final-draft/jsr051/index.html", but the link is both unreadable without a password and no equivalent information appears to be available via the standard documentation package.
ACTUAL -
Either the reference should be removed from the documentation or the link should be unprotected.
