Failed to start "NetBeans 3.5" and "Sun One Studio 8" on both intel-S2 and sparc-S2 platforms with Sol 5.10 build 38 or 39 (the latest version available in our lab). Build 37 is fine (on both intel-S2 and sparc-S2).

To reproduce it, just bring up "NetBeans 3.5" or "Sun One Studio 8", The IDE hangs on the "Opening Main Window" step.

I understand that this information may not be enough, unless it is an known issue. Just want is to open the communication. Please let us know what else information you need. Will try our best to collect them for you.


Reproduced this issue on at least 4 lab machines: 3 sparc-S2 and 1 intel-S2. The following matrix is I used to test this issue using the same machine, with S10-38 installed first, have the problem. Then reinstalled the system with S10-37, the problem is gone:

   NetBeans 3.5, JDK 1.4.2, S10_37, ==> Works fine
   NetBeans 3.5, JDK 1.4.1_03, S10_38, ==> Hangs

   Rainier B17, JDK 1.4.1_03, S10_37, ==> Works fine
   Rainier B17, JDK 1.4.2, S10_37, ==> Works fine
   Rainier B17, JDK 1.4.1_03, S10_38, ==> Hangs
   Rainier B17, JDK 1.4.2, S10_38, ==> Hangs
