Other OSs such as Sol8/9, WinXP, RH9 don't exibit this problem.

problem:
All russian characters are rendered incorrectly in awt's TextArea.

steps to reproduce:
1. login into ru_RU locale
2. run the attached java file.

None of the test's output corresponds to expected unicode values.
