The firedrill this week makes me wonder whether we should remove the
validity checks when establishing which the set of trusted anchors.
We had two certificates which expired in Jan 2004, and as a result, we had
to reissue the cacerts file for several releases. This might be better
avoided by not doing a root anchor validity check, as I understand the
CertPath code doesn't do.
