J2SE uses zlib 1.1.3 with some local fixes applied. Version 1.2.2 should
be used instead because:
- some performance improvements
- security fixes. These have been independently applied to 1.1.3
by Sun engineers, but there is the
*perception* that Sun may be using an insecure version even though there is
no evidence of a security problem.
The upgrade would be perfect for the post-Tiger release, when 1.2.1 will have
seen real-world use by others. Users should not see any difference except
for the performance improvements
