Name: gm110360 Date: 01/07/2004
FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
1.4.2
ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
Microsoft Windows XP Version 5.1.2600
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Using Internet Explorer, I go to the 1.4.2 applet demonstration site and select the 3D chemical models demo
http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.4.2/demos/plugin/applets/MoleculeViewer/example1.html
If I don't have the 1.4.2 JRE installed, a "security warning" window pops open and asks me if I want to install and run "Java Plug-in 1.4.2" signed and distributed by Sun Microsystems. If I click "yes," the CAB file containing the installer gets downloaded.
However, after the download is finished, another security warning pops open asking me if I want to run "jinstaller142.exe", which is located in some temporary directory. The message also says "The publisher cannot be determined due to the problems below: Content does not match the signature"
I think this is happening because the installer has to be extracted from the cab file before it can be run. But the fact that this security warning pops up is troublesome. I require my clients to use version 1.4.2 or later, but how can I convince them to install it if the browser is telling them that the content does not match the signature?
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
