Steps to reproduce:
1) Install jdk 1.3.1 to default directory.
2) Install jdk 1.4.2 to default directory.
3) Uninstall 1.3.1 using add/remove programs.
4) Open a command prompt and type java -version.
java is not recognized.
5) Run regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/JavaSoft/Java Development Kit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/JavaSoft/Java Runtime Environment
CurrntVersion Key is missing from both.
I have tried this on Win2003 and Win2000, with 1.3.1fcs, 1.3.1_09 and 1.3.1_11 as the original jdk, and with 1.4.2, 1.4.2_04 and 1.4.1fcs as the updated jdk.
