This is bug happens on Mozilla 1.6 on Java Desktop System (release 2) only. No such problem in Solaris with Mozilla 1.6.
A common user friendly bug that requires a more clear description to use demos-nojavascript.html page if user is forced to download JDK1.4.2 even s/he has JDK1.4.2 or higher version installed. This problem happens in Mozilla 1.2.1 only. If I swithed to Mozilla 1.6, no such problem.
I used JDS (Release 2) to do JaWS online demo.
1. Failed test case:
Install J2SDK1.5.0 b40. Launch JaWS, make sure the "command to browser path" is set to mozilla 1.6.
Click on "help" -> "JNLP home" -> Browser opens and prompt to "Select User Profile" -> another mozilla browser open after select the User Profile and JaWS home page displayed.
Go to demo page -> click on "Draw" demo -> prompt to "Download J2SE 1.4.2 (J2SE) page"
2. Passed test case:
Open Mozilla 1.6 browser, the default plug-in is set to 1.5.0beta2-b40.
Go to demo page -> click on "Draw" demo -> prompt to "Download J2SE 1.4.2 (J2SE) page"
On the bottom of the demos.html page, there's a description to use non-javascript version of demo.
" ? Not seeing any images? You are probably using a browser that does not support JavaScript or has JavaScript disabled. Click here (demos-nojavascript.html) to go to a non-JavaScript version of this page."
However, since my problem is different from the above statement, I cannot find such link in an easy way. I recommend something like this on the top of demos.html page:
"If you have JDK1.4.2 or higher version installed, click on here (demos-nojavascript.html) to use non-JavaScript demo to bypass the default download page."
Try Mozilla 1.6 on the same Java Desktop System (Release 2), quicksilver, it still reproducible.
