On Windows, when using a dbcs local (i.e. Chinese, Korean, Japanese) the appearance of the italic bold fonts has changed from Java 1.1.8 to 1.3.1_08.
The fonts used with 1.3.1_08 are not as bold as the ones used with 1.1.8.
This is confusing for the end user.
In attachement a TC.java test-case that shows the problem.
The ISV found a workaround by modifying the font.properties file located
in jre/lib. In attachment to this report, a font.properties.zh_ok file that fixes the problem for Chinese.
Yet, the ISV would like to know if this workaround is acceptable.
Thanks for your support.
Thierry.
