It's a user friendly bug for jreinstaller sample code.
When I try to following the j2sdk1.5.0/sample/jnlp/jreinstaller/README to build & deploy JNLP application, I found many unclear descriptions in the README that blocks me to proceed.
Please provide more detail and specific info for the following:
1. CACERT=<path to cert to sign jar>
<feedback>
a. Where is the cert to sign jar?
b. How can I get it if I don't have one?
c. Does cert mean certificate?
2. "You will need to host the installer using Please refer to the JNLPDowndloadServerlet guide for details."
<feedback>
a. Where to get JNLPDowndloadServerlet guide? URL should be provided.
b. Any documentation for VersionDownload Protocol?
c. It's strongly recommended to have the README provide the required deployment steps using the JNLPDownloadServerlet and the VersionDownload Protocol as a onestop source instead of going different documentations for answer.
3. "On Solaris/Linux, the installer will install the JRE into the user's javawebstart cache."
<feedback>
a. The sample JRE location in windows OS was provided, same thing should also provided for Solaris/Linux.
b. What if users don't know the location of "the user's javawebstart cache"?
c. Please provide an example of Solaris/Linux JRE location. eg: $user_home/.java/deployment/cache
4. The format of the README is not professional and appears too rough.
<feedback>
a. Please structure the README in a consistent format for all the 5 sample codes.
b. Suggestion of the Format of README:
* Brief Description
* File structure
* Building the application
* Deployment of the application
Note: due to the above reason, I cannot proceed with the building and deployment of the JNLP application. After more speicific info is provided, I can continue.
