The iftw install behaves differently when the proxy is different. When the proxy is an authenticated proxy, the iftw installation shows a download information window. When the proxy is a non-authenticated proxy, the download information is not shown. Instead, a window that indicates that files are being copied is shown. This is misleading to the end user who would believe that the files have already been downloaded and may be tempted to disconnect his connection.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM:
1. Point the browser to http://sqeweb.sfbay/deployment3/tiger/iftw_2004-03-11-00-16-jre/
2. Set your proxy settings to webcache.sfbay.sun.com port 8080
3. Click on the link j2re-1_5_0-windows-i586-iftw.exe.
4. Click on the downloaded file to start the installation.
5. Accept the license and move on to the installation. When the installer has to download files from the web it shows a window similar to the one in the attached file webcache.jpg. This simply shows that files are being copied. It does not mention that the files are being downloaded from the web. A user might be tempted to think that the download is complete and would disconnect the internet connection.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE CORRECT BEHAVIOUR:
1. Set the proxy to comanche.sfbay.sun.com port 8080
2. Point the browser to http://sqeweb.sfbay/deployment3/tiger/iftw_2004-03-11-00-16-jre/
3. The proxy asks for a username and password. Type in the correct name and password. (Mail the submitter if you dont have this information)
4. Click on the link j2re-1_5_0-windows-i586-iftw.exe and download the file
5. Click on the downloaded file to begin the installation. After beginning the installation, a download information window comes up. This is similar to the one in the attached file comanche.jpg. This is the correct information that should be presented to the user.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOUR:
Whenever there is a download happening, a download window with a progress bar and an estimated time remaining counter should be displayed.
