In windows(Both window2000 and XP) if you keep on typing in textfield, than it
scrolls But while it scrolls it make sures that first visible character is
complete visible and not half cutted, while in Java windows L&F(In both
windows 2000 and XP) it don't care about this and have its own rule and may
show you half visible first character.

Reproducible on tiger b45
