Name: dk106046 Date: 05/06/2004
OPERATING SYSTEM(S):
Windows 2000 SP4
FULL JDK VERSION(S):
java version "1.4.2_04"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_04-b05, mixed mode)
and
java version "1.5.0-beta2"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0-beta2-b48)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0-beta2-b48, mixed mode)
1. Run the Swing demo Notepad.jar
java -jar Notepad.jar
2. Click the left mouse button over the main window of the application to give it the focus, the cursor will appear.
3. Open a file by clicking the left mouse button on the File Open toolbar icon.
4. Select README.txt in the file open dialog and click Open button.
5. The contents of the file are now displayed in the main window.
6. The focus is not always returned to the main window, sometimes it is lost.
7. I would expect the focus to be returned to the main window after opening the file.
The problem is intermittent, but if I repeat the above steps 4 or 5 times I will observe the defect at least once.
With Microsoft Spy being used to observe the messages of the main window the defect occurs virtually every time.
