The Notifications pane is greyed out when an MBean cannot emit notifications. Maybe the Attributes and Operations panes should be greyed out when an MBean has not attributes or operations resp. When I am exploring the different java.lang MBeans I end up looking at each one to see whether it has any operations, but most of them don't.
