A DESCRIPTION OF THE REQUEST :
Javadoc should at least have an option to generate well-formed, valid XHTML 1.0
JUSTIFICATION :
This would make the JavaDoc much easier to process with automated tools such as XML parsers and XSLT processors for all sorts of purposes ranging from search to reformatting to major rearrangements like jdocs.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
I would like to see valid XHTML come out of javadoc.
ACTUAL -
javadoc produces content that isn't even valid HTML 4.0
CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Use TagSoup
(Incident Review ID: 297367)
======================================================================
* With the improvements in 1.6 could we make 'javadoc' generate valid
strict XHTML output with semantic classing. We've been talking about
building a really nice javadoc viewer on the Flying Saucer mailing
list, so semantic XHTML would be really helpful.
