      FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
      java version "1.5.0-rc"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0-rc-b63)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0-rc-b63, mixed mode, sharing)

      ADDITIONAL OS VERSION INFORMATION :
      Linux nepenthes 2.6.7-1.494.2.2 #1 Tue Aug 3 09:39:58 EDT 2004 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

      EXTRA RELEVANT SYSTEM CONFIGURATION :
      Using ratpoison window manager.

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When running swing applications, often the UI appears empty -- no widgets are painted. Sometimes the UI appears, but not occupying the full window space.

For example, the SwingSet2 and Notepad demo JFC apps appear, but do not occupy the full window area.

I suspect this is related to the way that ratpoison initially sizes windows (usually to the full screen).

This worked fine with jdk 1.4.2

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
      Use ratpoison window manager

Start demo JFC apps (e.g. Notepad) provided with sdk.

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
Notepad UI should occupy full window area.

      ACTUAL -
Large areas of the window are unused.

      REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

      Release Regression From : 1.4.2
The above release value was the last known release where this
bug was known to work. Since then there has been a regression.
