A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The Java Update feature stops/crashes during the download step of the Java Update process. If Windows XP does NOT have this patch installed (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=842773), Java Update will fail.

Java Update should check to see if this patch or SP1 has been installed on user's Windows XP.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1) On a Widnows XP machine (without SP1), install JRE 1.4.2_02.
2) Check for Java Update.
3) User sees the "New Updates are ready to download" message
4) Click on the tooltip balloon to see this dialog box.
5) Click on the "Download" button to start the download process. A tooltip balloon displays the download progress.
6) Java update is stuck at 0%. Then the Java Update icon disappears from the system tray and Jucheck.exe disappears from the process list.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Java Update should finish download and a baloon notifies that JRE installation can begin.
ACTUAL -
Download process crashes. The Java Update icon disappears from the system tray and Jucheck.exe disappears from the process list.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Install Windows XP SP1 or this patch will fix the problem. Java Update should notify user to download SP1 or this patch.
