I have a list with 10 items and I am setting the selected item programmatically, Say item no 8. When I show the list on the screen, it just shows the first 5 items and I have no clue whether any of the items in the list are selected upfront. Hence when the list is shown and when the selected item is not within the visible limits, the List must automatically scroll in order to make the selected item visible to the user.
This is reproducible only on Solaris / Linux since 1.4 and not on Win32. This feature works fine on Win32. This is reproducible on XToolkit as well as Motif.
I have attached a sample test. Run the test on solaris / linux. I have set the item-8 as selected whereas the list is able to show only 5 items at a time. So when the frame comes up, check whether you are able to see the selected item in the list. If not, the bug is reproduced.
