Right now we only detect a small set of window managers. Sometimes it is critical to be able to detect a window manager, mostly for implementation of isXXXSupported API. It is not hard to implement this feature, for example, for the missing WMs:
WindowMaker - WINDOWMAKER_PROTOCOLS
FVWM - WN_NAME=FVWM
It would also be nice to support at least all _NET WMs(see list at http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Standards_2fwm_2dspec)
