Fix for 4950157 fails with 64 bit jvm, sparc, 1.4.2_07b04

Testcase location :
/net/latte.ireland/deployment1/regtests/142/test/CTE_REGTEST/Generic/4950157

OS : solaris 2.8, sparc.
JDK: 1.4.2_07b4, 64bit jvm.

To reproduce :
compile the java file
$JDK/bin/java -Xmx32m -XX:-CMSYield -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=0 -d64 BubbleUpRef 16000 50 10000

The process seems to hang after 1-2mins.
A stack trace of the hanging process is attached.

The hang is also seen with 1.4.2_06b3
