Effected OS: Windows XP
Scenario 1 (IE):
1. Install JRE 1.5.0_01 (1.5.0_01-b05) on winxp
2. Install JRE 1.5.0 (1.5.0-b64) on winxp
3. remove all the trace file locating $HOME/Application Data/Sun/Java/Deployment/log
4. run "cmd" from start menu to start a command session
5. cd "C:/program files/internet explorer/"
6. type command "iexplorer.exe" in this command session
7. type the url of applet page based on 1.5.0 using mime type "application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.5", e.g.(see attach 150.html)
8. It will work well and you can find plugin150.trace in the log dir of deployment home. But the java console will not be invoked.
9. Don't close the former ie window, and type another "iexplorer.exe" in the same command session
10. type the url of applet page based on 1.5.0_01 using mime type "application/x-java-applet;jpi-version=1.5.0_01", e.g.(see attach 151.html)
IMPT ATTENTION: In this ie window pls don't load the 1.5 mime type applet just by using the former url and typing enter and changing its name. PLS directly load the second page with none applet loading in this ie window before
11. It works well and you can find plugin150_01.trace in the log dir of deployment home. And java console can be invoked and show proper version.
12. So two mime type runs well now.
BUT if you follow another steps it will fail.
1. 2. 3. ditto
4. Open "my computer" and explore it in window mode
5. Change to the right dir where the test applet pages locate
6. Use mouse and double-click or right-click to open the 150.html in IE, it will work well.
7. Don't close the former ie window, use mouse to open the 151.html in IE, and "Java Plug-in Warning" pop-up should be there telling the user about the JRE
collsion.
Scenario 2 (MZ):
1. 2. 3. ditto (Pls take care of the install sequence)
4. Use mozilla to open the 150.html and it will work well
5. Use mozilla to open the 151.html and it will pop up the "Java Plug-in Warning"
6. 4 or 5 in any sequence and the same thing occurs
7. So the different behaviors of multi JRE using different browser behave on windows
