It would emphasize that the API docs are preliminary if a background image
were added to each page. This can be done easily with this line in api/stylesheet.css (at the top directory of the generated docs):

  body { background-image: url(doc-files/draft.gif); }

and adding the corresponding image at:

  api/doc-files/draft.gif
