To reproduce the bug, do the following:

1. Run the attached code on Solaris-Sparc.
2. Click on the periphery of a menu in the menubar (not on the text)
brings up the menu but menu vanishes immediately. But when you click on menu caption, menu comes up and stays until we click some menuitem.

This is not reproducible on win32 and on any of the promoted builds

This is reproducible in PIT Respin request 6.0 b27 but not in PIT request 6.0 b27.

This is reproducible on all builds since Tiger-FCS with XToolkit. Not reproducible on Motif and Win32. Not a PIT bug. On Motif, Clicking just a couple of pixels above menu-bar does not bring up the menu. If at all it brings up, the menu stays on the screen until the user clicks something. But with XToolkit, menu comes and vanishes immediately.
