      The sample code output for currency formatting on
      http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/i18n/format/numberFormat.html
      shows the currency symbols F and DM being used for the French and German locales, respectively. JREs since 1.4 have not produced this output, because the French Franc and the German Mark ceased to be legal tender in February 2002. Instead, the euro is used.
