RFE Description : When any JNLP application is installed in a system,it should not be removed without user notice, this happens when JRE in the system is uninstalled the installed javaws application also get removed.
Steps to reproduce :
1.Install latest JRE(1.6.0) in any windows system
2.Import Notepad Application (javaws http://java.sun.com/products/javawebstart/apps/notepad.jnlp)
3.Launch Java Application Cache Viewer and check the notepad application is listed.
4.Uninstall JRE
5.Again install the same JRE in the testing system
6.Launch the "Java Application Cache Viewer", the previously installed notepad
should be available but its not listed.
Why User need this feature?
When User uninstall the jre and reinstalled any JRE of higher version(which is normal user scenario) user should not loose the existing application.
When the Application download size is less in few kb then its ok but when the application which has lot download and user connectivity is not so good then user will feel the pinch of additional downloading effort.
How this can be avoided?
While uninstalling the jre the uninstaller can prompt user for uninstalltion of installed JNLP application if user already installed any,If user aggress to remove then uninstaller can remove the installed application if user disagrees then uninstall only the JRE not the application.
