New UI design for Connection Dialog. The following UI issues identified at the heuristics evaluation for jconsole should be addressed in this new design:
http://javaweb.sfbay/~mchung/jconsole/mustang/heuristic-eval.html
1. Progress feedback is needed when JConsole is connecting to a process
2. In the Local tab of the Connection dialog box, if there are no local processes are running, the interface should indicate this.
3. Values not universally remembered in the Remote tab of Connection dialog box
4. "Failure to Connect" error messages should be more salient
5. The tabbed style of the New Connection dialog box is misleading
6. Initial connection - Tabs: no mnemonics on them
7. Needs to add feedback when a process disconnects, rather than just losing the window and getting the login screen (as currently happens)
8. Local and Remote Tabs: distinction is unclear
9. Connection window is much smaller than the application window
10. Expects auto-completion in "Host or IP" and "Port" fields
12. Labels: "Host or IP" geared to expert users but not to others
13. Horizontal scroll bar present though there is nothing to scroll
