Bug Description:
Validation is missing for cache directory location entered in "Temporary files Settings" in JavacontrolPanel, the validation happens only when the JavaWebStart is launched.
Steps to reproduce:
1.Install jre1.6.0(b29) in windows testing system
2.Launch JavaControlPanel and click Settings button it will open Temporary Files Settings" dialog
3.Enter wrong cache directory location(invalid drive location/partition) and Apply and close the JavaControlPanel
4.Launch the JavaWebStart from command Prompt
Error dialog will be displayed with title "Java Web Start - System Configuration"
Following error message displayed when "Details" button is clicked
An error occurred while launching/ running the application.
Category: System Configuration
The User cache does not exist and cannot be created. Check that the configuration is valid, and that you have permission to write to the configured cache location.
User mistake should be validated before writing into physical location
If user entered a valid location and while launch JavaWebStart if the location is not valid then the error displayed while launching is valid
Conclusion:
Validation should be done at both the instance while entering the cache location and
before launching the JavaApplicationCacheViewer.
If we are not going to have the option of launching the JavaApplicationCacheViewer then it should be validated while entering the Cache directory location before writing into physical location.
