The standard description for behaviour on null input does not exist in package.html for package java.nio.channels. The intent was for it to be present. When channels were originally introduced in merlin, they were in package java.nio (where there is a blanket statement). During development, when package java.nio.channels was introduced the blanket statement didn't make it into the new package. It should be added as we have assumed that it is present.
