Use at-poke + java-access-bridge for GNOME, or use one of the AccessUtilities in-process. Run the 'Swing Demo' version 6.1 (received from a potential customer as Swing_Demo_v1.6.jar. Note that the text content of the text field in the 'Password' tab has ROLE_PASSWORD_TEXT, but it still exposes its explicit text contents when queried with the AccessibleText.getText...() calls.
