When trying to establish an SSL connection to a server, using client authentication, the SSL connection fails before handshaking completes with the exception:
javax.net.ssl.SSLHandshakeException: Error signing certificate verify
at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.Alerts.getSSLException(Alerts.java:150)
at com.sun.net.ssl.internal.ssl.SSLSocketImpl.fatal(SSLSocketImpl.java:1476)

at ssltest.ConnTestStub.verifyConnection(ConnTestStub.java:363)
at ssltest.ConnTestStub.testConnectionDirectSecureAuth(ConnTestStub.java:291)
This happens with Java 1.5 Update 2 on both Solaris 8 (reported, but not confirmed with test case) and Solaris 9. However, it does not occur with Java 1.5 Update 2 on Solaris 10, and nor does it happen with Java 1.4.x on any of those OS versions.
