OS - Solaris Sparc 10 (JDS), Solaris Sparc 9 (Gnome), linux (Gnome)
machines tried - koi.sfbay, hiltonlv.sfbay, venetian.sfbay
build tested - PIT b36 from the following location -
/net/sqe/global/nfs/deployment5/pit_builds
Steps to reproduce -
1) Install the JRE
2) Go to the following location, and execute the tests 3 to 6
http://web-east.east/www/tests/1.6.0/5101866/
3) Here are the specifics that we need to look for :
case 3: create a shortcut & menu shortcut (not under existing menu)
- verify it creates a desktop shortcut
- verify it creates a menu shortcut under Launch -> Applications -> aaa -> bbb -> ccc
case 4: create a shortcut & menu shortcut (menu names contain blank )
- verify it creates a desktop shortcut
- verify it creates a menu shortcut under Launch -> Applications -> aa a -> b bb -> c cc
case 5: Create a shortcut with hint submenu(submenu is blank )
- verify it creates a desktop shortcut
- verify it creates a menu shortcut under Launch -> Applications
case 6: create related contents shortcut
- verify it creates a desktop shortcut
- verify it creates a menu shortcut under Launch -> Applications -> MyApp
- verify in addition to the menu shortcut, there is 3 other shortcuts
pointing to the related content:
1UpdatedReadmeonWindows1a
2ChangedReadmeonWindows1b
1UpdatedReadmeonWindows1c
In order to be able to view the shortcuts under menu, either kill the gnome-panel process or log-out and then log-in again. To be sure, just log out and log in again.
All the above tests failed on Solaris JDS and Gnome and Linux Gnome (Redhat Enterprise Server 4.0)
IMPORTANT -
1) The same tests passed on Linux Cinnabar JDS. The shortcuts under the menu could not be seen by just killing the gnome-panel process, but after I logged-out and logged back in, the shortcuts were there under the different menu/submenu options.
2) On Linux JDS, when tried to delete the above applications using the Java Control Panel, they could not be deleted and the whole process hung. There was no problem when another application was deleted in the same manner. Also, there was no problem on Solaris.
