Verified
The bug is reproducible in the following OSs -
Linux JDS Cinnabar, Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 4
Steps to reproduce-
NOTE: In order to make the paths more complex, do not install the Java bundles
in /tmp directory. These examples use /scratch/java/jdk1.6.0, but any
directory that isn't in /tmp should work.
1) Install the JDK
2) To make sure the Java Control Panel runs from a link to the JDK's bin directory.
> cd /tmp
> ln -s /scratch/java/jdk1.6.0/bin mybin
> ./mybin/ControlPanel
The above test does not work on the reported OSs. The following error is thrown:
./myjdk/ControlPanel: line 1: cd: ./myjdk/../jre/bin: No such file or directory
ControlPanel: Error: Invalid link or copy:
This test worked fine on Solaris for all the desktops - CDE, Gnome, JDS
