jdk build used: Mustang b40
platforms tested: Solaris, Cinnabar linux, RH AS 3 linux, WindowsXP
To reproduce:
1. launch Font2DTest with java -jar Font2DTest.jar
2. select any of the following Range
Hangul Jamo, Hiragana, Kitakana, Hangul Compatibility Jamo, CJK Unified Ideographs
3. leave Size to be 12
3. toggle between Plain / Bold style
you can see the difference
4. now, select Antialiasing on, you don't see the bold effect
if toggle between Plain / bold, you could see a little difference for some but not all glyphs
Note:
1. this behavior is not seen with older build b38
2. the behavior seems correct for these ranges: basic Latin, Devanagari, Hebrew, Arabic, Thai

2 screenshots are attached:
- bold-aa-on is when antialiasing is on
- bold-aa-off is when antialiasing is off
- the top part is with b40, the bottom part is with b38
