The attach API in mustang allows tools to attach and start the JMX agent in the target VM. However there isn't a supported way to obtain the connector address once the agent is running. jconsole reads the address from the instrumentation buffer via a sun.* API but this is not suitable for direct use by applications. The issue has come up on JMX-FORUM a number of times. Also NetBeans and a few of the tools vendors have asked about this functionality.

Part of the fix for this bug solved the problem where internal
build names were not properly recognized.

The internal build name problem is also observed in a number of NSK tests (see comments section).
