This is reproducible since tiger in XToolkit on Solaris and Linux.

Black patches appear on the text area when pressing tab repeatedly on a TextArea. When tab is pressed repeatedly, the horizontal scrollbar appears and the text area blackens out. The text present in the text area is not visible.

To reproduce:
Run the attached code. Repeatedly press tab on the text area.
