A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
When I browsed to a web site which has a applet, a Java icon appeared on the systray. I double-clicked on it and a dialog window About Java appeared. It had a Close button and I did not push it. Instead, I returned to my Firefox browser windows but it was freezed. I could not use it. Everything on that browser windows was freezed until I used Alt-Tab to switch back to About Java dialog window to close it.
I think it is a Java 1.6 bug.
REGRESSION. Last worked in version mustang
STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1. Browsing to a web site which has a applet by Firefox 1.5 final
2. A Java icon will appear on the systray.
3. Double-clicking on it and a window About Java appears. I
4. Don't click on the Close button
5. Instead, you return to you Firefox browser window
6. Now you can try to minimize it, switch tabs, or access to a text field to enter text. No, you can not.
7. You use Alt-Tab to switch back to About Java window to close it.
8. Everything should be fine now.
EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
Step 1 - 5, I expect to use my Firefox 1.5 browser as normal although I don't close About Java dialog.
ACTUAL -
Firefox is freezed if I don't close About Java dialog.
ERROR MESSAGES/STACK TRACES THAT OCCUR :
No explicit error message
REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.
