Text displayed in Swing applications under the GTK L&F is taller than in native GTK
applications. The attached screenshots demonstrate the buggy Java behavior
(menu-java.png) and the correct native behavior (menu-native.png). These screenshots
were taken on Nevada b27a with the Blueprint theme, but the same behavior can be seen
on S10 and various Linux systems.
Note that the Java glyphs are one pixel taller than native in most cases. To make
matters worse, the Java metrics seem to be taller, which causes components to be
taller than they are supposed to be, mnemonics display too low, etc. These issues
will be filed separately.
