As part of every release cycle, sooner or later, somebody wants some type of performance metrics on the plugin. Particularly plugin on Windows. Each time this happens, someone spends time to develop some quick and dirty instrumentation, which is eventually torn out before FCS release.
Ultimately this is a waste of resources. It is better to spend a little more time once, and provide a permanent solution to this problem. A solution that can unobtrusively be part of the released product.
This will allow continuous testing of the plugin, allowing us to monitor performance with each build and catch performance regressions as they happen. It will also allow for reliable comparison from release to release. Finally, it allows for accurate monitoring of customer designed applets.
