Customer Name : Bio-Key International Inc.
Operating System: Windows 98 Build 677766446 A
OS version:
Product Name: Java Plugin
Product version: 1.5.0_06-b05 for windows-x86, built on Nov 10 2005
Hardware platform: PC
Short description: Loading java applet using java plugin 1.5.0_06-b05 causes windows 98
platform to have an access violation.
Full problem description: The applet loads properly using java plugin 1,5,0_06-b05 on all
other platforms (windows 2000, 2003, xp). The applet loads properly using java plugin 1.4.2*
on windows 98. It fails to load throwing an access violation exception on the windows 98
platform when the 1.5.0_06-b05 plugin is used. Please note that this error occurs every time
on multiple machines running windows 98 that only have this version of the java plugin.
The application is not using native calls involving JNI APIs, but rather using standard
method calls that are throwing exceptions in the native code themselves.
They all seem very similar to Ref Bug ID # 5069955.
PS:
Customer can reproduce it at will. Please note that this only happens on a windows 98 platform running the 1.5.0_06-b05 plug-in, it works fine on all other platforms with the same plugin and works fine on windows 98 with the 1.4 plugin.
Attachments :
1) Error Logs
2) The Applet Source Code -> This is to observe where it is failing with 1.5.0_06 + Win 98 only.
