5.0u7-b02 PIT Testing
Test-spec ==> http://sqeweb.sfbay/deployment1/SQE/testing/toolbar/CustomMessagesThroughAutoupdate.html
All testcases in the testspec fail (on win98) because the java update alert message is never displayed on the taskbar.
Note: instead of dummy u8 I am updating to mustang build.
If <AlertTitle> and <AlertText> tags are omitted then the default java update message should be displayed. They are NOT.
If <AlertTitle> and <AlertText> tags are used then the messages specified in the xml file should be displayed on the taskbar. They are NOT.
UpdateServletURL is set to http://latte.ireland.sun.com/update/1.5.0/pit.xml
RunAtExactSchedule is set to ""
Tried with several win98 systems, same behaviour. On winxppro, win2000pro etc I see the messages on the taskbars (whether default or specified in xml).
Just to be sure I did an update from 5.0u5 to the latest (and greatest) on java.sun.com and I did not get any java update message on the taskbar, only the java update dialog window.
Question: Is this expected behaviour on win98? If so, then would that mean the testcases are not valid for win98 (as you will never see the alert messages).
If this is not expected behaviour on win98...then surely a bug?
