REGRESSION: ThinkPad Scroll Button

A DESCRIPTION OF THE REGRESSION :
I have a T-42 1.7 Ghz 512 MB 40 GB 802.11b Lenova ThinkPad. For the sake of consistancy, I'll use NetBeans and Windows Explorer as scroll examples.

REPRODUCIBLE TESTCASE OR STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
Native) Open an explorer window with enough files to necessitate scrolling (such as C:\WINDOWS\system32) and click on a file to ensure focus. Use the scroll button and the eraser mouse to scroll vertically.

NetBeans) Open a file and click to ensure focus. Repeat the above scrolling steps.

The problem also occurs in SwingSet2 (http://java.sun.com/products/plugin/1.5.0/demos/plugin/applets.html or ${JAVA_HOME}\demo\jfc\SwingSet2). I tried it in the JEditorPane
demo and in the source code view (just to make sure).

      RELEASE LAST WORKED:
      5.0

      RELEASE TEST FAILS:
      mustang-b70

      EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
      EXPECTED -
The NetBeans file should have scrolled as correctly as in the native window.
      ACTUAL -
The scroll position was entirely unaffected by the attempted scroll action.

Oh, I chose the latest build because I haven't testing on windows since one of the first weekly builds. I honestly don't know at what build it stopped working. Sorry. :-)

APPLICATION NAME: NetBeans APPLICATION VERSION: 5.0

APPLICATION NAME: JTestPrep (proprietary) APPLICATION VERSION: 1.0

      OBSERVED APPLICATION IMPACT:
It's amazingly annoying. That's the most succinct way of putting it. Yes, it's possible to move the mouse to the side of the screen and scroll manually but it takes much more time. I would predict that most developers using ThinkPads will be as inconvenienced as I was (significantly).
