Sun IT suntime2 applet fails to load using Mozilla 1.7.xx, Firefox 1.5.0.1
using jre 1.5.0_07-b02 and latest Mustang-beta2-b80. It works fine using
Internet Explorer 6
Tested on 6 different solaris, windows machines and the problem is always reproduced consistenly. Applet seems to wait forever for Java plug-in to load, and user can't log in and use the suntime2 application at all.
Test Configurations:
-------------------
- Sun Java Desktop System for Solaris (JDS3)/solaris 5.10/ Mozilla 1.7
(This is a blocker for SunIT as they are upgrading sunray server in various Sun's campus
to this configuration and jre 1.5.0_xx. Mozilla 1.7 is the only available default
browser on this configuration.)
- Windows XP-home(sp2)/[Mozilla 1.7.12/Firefix 1.5.0.1/IE 6 (sp2)] (2 different machines)
- Windows 2000-pro(sp4)/[Mozilla 1.7.8/Firefox 1.5.0.1/ IE 6]
- Solaris Sparc 5.9 (Gnome2)/Mozilla 1.7
Tested Builds:
-------------
- jre 1.5.0_07-b02
- jre 1.6.0-beta2-b80
Steps to reproduce:
------------------
1) Install jre 1.5.0_07-b02 on the test machine
2) Using Mozilla 1.7.xx (or Firefox 1.5.0_x ) to browse http://suntime2.central
3) Applet can't be loaded. It seems to wait forever for the Java plug-in to load
and user can't enter Sun ID and LDAP Password to log in
(see attached screenshots on windows- and they are the same on jds/solaris with MZ1.7)
Note:
----
- I used fresh, clean jre installation and cleared the deployment cache/ browser cache
every time before trying again.
- The same problem occurs on latest Mustang-beta2-b80 as well
- The problem does NOT occur if using Internet Explorer 6 to load the same suntime2 applet
on the same test machines/congifurations. Unfortunately, IE6 can't be used on solaris
sparc or JDS3/solaris 10
