The man page for the java command on Solaris 10 has a line at the bottom of every page that says:
      "J2SE 1.5.0 Last change: 16 Sep 2002"
Since Tiger was released in late 2004 this is surprising. And in fact the man page for "java" on Mustang still has this 2002 date. I compared the man pages for the java command on a 1.4 release and a 1.5 release and they both had this same date even though they were otherwise not the same. Plainly the date is hardwired into the man page.
The new generation process for man pages inserts
the date of the last sccs-modification.
