customer is running a mission critical banking application where the client system uses Internet Explorer, and a JAVA Applet to generate print jobs and communicate these print jobs to a print daemon running on the same client system.

Often (10-15 per day over 2000 workstations), when a page that include the java applet is unloaded (i.e. html form has been submitted) we IE locks up completely..

We know that the page has been submitted succesfully, because in some of the cases the submit of the page creates a journal record on the backend system. So it must be when a result has been retrued from the Application Server, and IE is "destroying" the current html page, before rendering the new one.

Closing the IE window by clicking the close 'X' does not work.. Switching to another application does not work either.

The user has to kill IE using the Task Manager to recover from this hang.
I have uploaded the all the files. Please find the same again.
