Solaris only.
IM behaves differently between 5.0U9 and 6 when NetBeans is used.
We need to further investigate it.
During the investigation of 6362356 (Netbean5.0 cannot use IM), we found that rolling back the fix for 6311415 would enable the IM. The fix for 6311415 is a left over fix, which was suuposed to be a part of the fix for 6228914, peformance improvement.

The fix for 6311415 and 6228914 are both backported to 5.0U9.
The IM has no problem with NetBenas5.0.
